REACTIVE: Your Brain, Your Future, Our Research.
REACTIVE is a 30-month study that aims to test whether the REACTIVE application can accurately identify people whose brain health is declining and who are at risk of dementia.
Here is what happens
Registration
- Visit the website or download the REACTIVE app and provide login details
- Give your consent to participate
- Complete a short eligibilty check
- Provide some personal and your GP details
- Fill out a demographics questionnaire so we can learn more about you
Cognitive testing
- Complete the cognitive tests: a set of small activities designed to test different areas of your brain.
- Complete a questionnaire about your daily activities
- Routine checks will be run to make sure your data has arrived and is within expected range. If there is an issue, you may be contacted to discuss or re-take the tests
Brain training games
- After completing cognitive tests, you’ll unlock access to brain training games
- Play them as much as you like!
Saliva and blood testing
- We’ll send you a saliva & blood testing kit in the post
- Return the completed kits using the envelope provided
Questionnaires
Complete questionnaires about your:
- Medical and family history
- Mental health
- Lifestyle
- Wellbeing
6 month cognitive tests
At 6 months, you will:
- Repeat the cognitive tests
- Complete questionnaires about your health and wellbeing
- These will continue to be repeated at 6 monthly intervals until the study ends or you withdraw from the study.
You’ll receive reminders and results via email and in application messages.
Feedback
- You’ll get feedback on your strongest area and tips on staying brain-healthy
- If there is a change in your results, the study team will contact you for an online appointment with a study doctor
- During your appointment, a further assessment will be completed
Study ends
- The study ends after 30 months
- You may be able to join another study called PROTECT (with continued access to brain training games)
- Complete a feedback questionnaire to share your experience in REACTIVE

We are looking for people who have a diagnosis of mild cognitive impairment or concerns about their brain health to take part in this study
Aged 65+
Must be registered with a GP practice in England
Access to a computer, tablet or smartphone with access to the internet
